WATCH: Queen’s guard draws gun on touchy-feely tourist

A tourist was given a rude awakening by a member of the British Queen’s Guard after he tried to get a little too familiar with the soldier.

In a video posted online on Monday the tourist can be seen mimicking the soldier's march at Windsor Castle before placing his hand on the guards shoulder.

The act causes the guard to draw his bayonet and shout at the tourist to “step back from the Queen’s Guard”. The soldier’s actions have been described by the UK Ministry of Defence as the “appropriate reaction” to the provocation.

In a statement to the Mirror the Ministry also confirmed that the guard would not face any disciplinary action for the incident.

“Since that incident, a rope has now been installed at that sentry position that keeps tourists away and stops people approaching the guard,” said the UK Ministry of Defence.

“It is disappointing that a member of the public has shown such disrespect towards the Queen's Guard.

“The soldier is there to protect the Queen, himself and the sentry position. He reacts appropriately.”
