Annabelle Lawrence has found herself a viral star at just three months of age.
The little girl from Idaho was born profoundly deaf and fitted with two tiny hearing aids for the first time this week.
Annabelle reacts with wide-eyed surprise to hearing sounds for the first time - most importantly the voice of her mother Sarah-Jo.
“Can you hear?” she asks her daughter, whose whole face shows her wonder at hearing the words.
Sarah-Jo and the audiologist watch Annnabelle's astonished reaction to voices and hands clapping nearby.
“Everything has been so overwhelming,” Sarah Jo told the Metro. “To be able to tell Annabelle that I love her and know she hears me is very emotional.”
Mum and baby are both now enjoying this new way of communicating: “I can’t stop talking to her. Whenever I’m doing the dishes or putting a wash on I give her a running commentary.”
Annabelle will be be fitted with cochlear implants when she is nine months old.
