Tongan athlete Pita Taufatofua captured the world’s attention thanks to his memorable entrance during the Olympic Opening Ceremony last Friday .
Taufatofua, who competes in Taekwondo, was chosen as his country’s flag bearer and shot to fame worldwide after entering the Maracanã Stadium bare-chested and oiled up.
On Monday Pita was invited onto the TODAY show’s coverage of the Rio Olympics and it’s fair to say things got a little weird.
After being asked about the reaction to his Olympic entrance, the show’s hosts Hoda Kotb, Natalie Morales and Jenna Bush Hager waste no time whipping out the oil and rubbing it onto the athlete’s body.
Ok then…
Poor Pita is even cut off as he tries to answer a question as they continue to rub oil onto him.
