Storm chaser Bryan Snider got a little more than he bargained for while filming a timelapse of a storm in the US.
Brian was videoing the storm as it passed over Tucson, Arizona earlier this month when he captured a rare wet microburst on film. A wet microburst when a cooled column of air, accompanied by significant precipitation, sinks rapidly through the middle of a thunder storm.
The phenomenon is more commonly know as a ‘rain bomb’ and can bring with it winds of up to 150mph.
The video demonstrates perfectly the force involved as you see the microburst slam into the ground.
We are sure if you ask an Irish person they’ll say we have rain bombs all the time here, but actually this event is quite rare and it is nice to have it on video for all to see.
