A man and his dog have been reunited after being separated for eight years.
Joshua Edwards believes his puppy, Duke, was stolen from his garden in Florida in 2007. After searching for his Rottweiler pup for six months, Edwards gave up hope.
But last Friday, a woman called Maria Elena Cartaya found a dog wandering on a Miami street. He had a limp and was dirty but she said that he looked like “a sweet dog and needed help.”
Cartaya brought home to a local vet clinic where they scanned his microchip, which identified the dog as belonging to Edwards.
The happy meeting between Duke and his long-lost owner happened on Tuesday at the vet's office and was accompanied by a lot of face-licking and belly rubs.
"I think he knew who I was right away,” said Edwards.
“I never thought I would see him again."
