After a busy year of fundraising the Russell family from Carrick on Suir were in for a treat last Friday thanks to local radio station Beat 102-103.
The family, parents Mick and Michelle and five-year-old triplets Cillian, Conor and Ruth, have spent the year raising over €30,000 in order to buy a special fitted wheelchair accessible vehicle for Cillian.
Cillian’s heart stopped when he was a year old and resulted in him being quadriplegic with cerebral palsy and epilepsy as well.
After all their efforts the vehicle will arrive in early 2016 and will help Cillian’s parents to easily move his wheelchair in and out of it, as well as allowing Cillian to sit in comfort next to his brother and sister.

Having followed and helped the young family in their fundraising Beat 102-103 decided the family should be the subjects of their ‘Feel Good Friday Campaign’, which they run throughout the month of November.
Beat 102-103’s breakfast team arrived at the Russell’s door early Friday morning to inform them they were going to be given a lovely family day out.
The Russells were then taken to Rathwood in County Carlow for an exclusive Santa train experience and mother Michelle was given a spa day at the four star Clonmel Park Hotel the following day.
The reaction of the youngsters at hearing they are going to see Santa is priceless and it looks like they all, including Cillian, had a fabulous day out.
If this doesn’t start to get you in the seasonal cheer nothing will, fair play to all involved!
