Finally living up to the promise he showed in 'Far And Away', Tom Cruise is to receive a Certificate of Irish Ancestry from the Department of Foreign Affairs next week.
It turns out the actor, who will be in Dublin on Wednesday for the premiere of his new movie 'Oblivion', has Irish blood on two sides of his family tree.
New genealogy research commissioned by The Gathering shows the A-list Cruise is more Irish than we thought. He can trace his roots to Kilteevan, Co Roscommon through the Mapother family (we knew that already), but the new research has revealed another branch of his family that lived in Dublin. This one is described as a "definitive blood line".
Cruise's visit to Ireland will be hosted by Universal Pictures International Ireland. The 'Oblivion' premiere, in Dublin's Savoy Cinema, is set to be one of the biggest red carpet events ever seen in the city.
