A key from the Titanic which opened a life-jacket locker has been sold for £85,000 (€95,533) at auction.
The key belonged to a third-class steward, Sidney Sedunary, who died when the Titanic sank in April 1912 aged 23.
Auctioneer Andrew Aldridge has said: "Here's a man who sacrificed his life to save others."
The significance of the key revolves around evidence given at the British Inquiry by Steward John Hart, it shows Sedunary working on the F deck on the night of the sinking even though it was flooded.
The key was recovered from his body and remained in his family until now.
The hero lives on.
