We don’t understand this… Why would anyone pay so much money for a dress made out of plastic bracelets?
The dress made from loom bands (if you don’t know what they are, we made a handy explainer here) is up for auction on eBay and the current highest bid is just over €214,300 (£170,100).
HOW?!
The owners of the dress can’t quite believe it either. The whole thing was was the idea of Helen Wright from North Wales whose 12-year-old daughter Sian is crazy about loom bands but they never expected this.
The dress itself was made by their friend Katherine Burnand who suffers with arthritis. It took her three and a half weeks to make it.
Helen told the Daily Post that they can’t get over what’s happened.
“I'm still in shock and I can't believe it. I still won't believe it until the bidding's finished and the money is in the bank
There are currently 137 bids from 39 different bidders and the auction is set to close at 5.13pm this evening.
The multi-coloured dress went up on the site on the 8th of July with a starting price of just €64 (£50) - to cover the cost of the loom bands.
“We thought we'd stick it on eBay as a bonus for £50 and thought if it went over £50, we might have a day out,” Helen said.
It’s still a mystery as to why anyone actually wants it - as Helen points out it’s not very wearable.
“It's not comfortable and it's very heavy,” she said.
"It was made as a novelty and we never intended it to be worn."
Absolute madness.
