As is fitting.

The Humans of Dublin photographer came up with a picture-perfect way to propose to his girlfriend

Two years ago, Peter Varga started a photo project called Humans of Dublin, featuring funny, touching and beautifully captured stories and photos of the city's characters.

The Facebook page has gone from strength to strength and now the 100 of the best of the bunch are collected into a book of the same name that has just been released.

Peter, who is originally from Hungary, credits his girlfriend Maria, who is from Brazil, as integral to the project's success, so he knew he wanted to do something special for her when the book came out - and what's more special than a proposal?

Last Friday, he presented her with the first ever copy of the book and as she flipped through to the very end, she came across a surprise entry and photo from Peter.

"The last four years have been the best of my life. When you meet that person who changes everything, who you're meant to be with, why wouldn’t you do everything in your power to keep them in your life?," he wrote.

"Maria, if you're reading (and I know you are), I have one question: Will you marry me?"

And she said yes!

Fittingly, the photos of the moment, taken by his friend, Northern Ireland Press Photographer of the Year 2016 Niall Carson, are a story in themselves.

And Niall made this beautiful comic strip too, using quotes from the couple in their native Hungarian and Portuguese.

Translation:

Peter: Maria, will you marry me?

Maria: With all my heart, yes!

Peter: We're on our way to Paris
