Presenter makes 'Anchorman' slip-up by reading EXACTLY what was on the teleprompter

Eric Philips suffered a moment of indignity that was like something straight out of 'Anchorman' on American TV this week.

The presenter was caught out by reading a typo off the auto-reel that left his co-presenter Karla Redditte in peals of laughter, along with most of America.

NBC12 morning anchor Mr Philips asked viewers to “check their panties” instead of “pantries” after 175,000 rice and slow cookers were being recalled due to fire and electric shock hazards.

The comical slip-up is made even funnier by Karla's inability to stop sniggering in the background as Eric continues the broadcast with all the professionalism he can muster.

Immediately after Eric makes the hilarious mistake, Karla THEN pipes up saying: “I couldn't warn you before, I saw it and I couldn't warn you Eric, I'm so sorry!”

The fiasco is completed by the meteorologist Andrew Freiden popping his head in to say “hello to the internet” knowing full well the broadcast was going to go viral across social media platforms and media outlets.

Well, he wasn't wrong!
