While working over in Dubai, Cork man Liam Murphy decided to a take day trip to the Ferrari World theme park in Abu Dhabi yesterday.
On the way there Liam, from Bandon in Cork, struck up conversation with his Indian taxi driver Shakiha. During their chat Shakiha told Liam that he’d been working in the United Arab Emirates for 14 years, sending home money to his family in India and that he had never been inside the theme park.
After hearing that the taxi driver usually waited up to four hours outside the park for his customers to come out, Liam was having none of it and decided he was going to make Shakiha’s day. Liam paid 250AED (roughly €61) for an extra ticket and brought Shakiha into the attraction with him.
Posting on his Facebook page, Liam added pictures of the duo’s day together in Ferrari World - saying light-heartedly of Shakiha that he had “some craic with the hoore all day.”
Speaking to breakingnews.ie Liam said, “I'm over here for a week with EMC carrying out MVT (Manufacturing Validation Testing) to set up a new distributor for a new product called Vspex Blue. So I'm travelling by myself.”
“Every time he (Shakiha) drops passengers off he stays in the car for the day. I decided to bring him along for the laugh. He was great entertainment!
“I bought him some pizza on the way home. He was delighted with the day out,” said the Cork man.
Fair play to Liam, we think it was a lovely thing for him to do.
Looks like they had a fabulous day!
