A video has surfaced online of a paddleboarder getting bumped by a whale as she takes a spin in the Pacific.

Viviana Guzman, who also plays the flute for a living, was on her paddleboard in Half Moon Bay, California, playing a plastic version of her instrument to attract the creatures.

Guzman has been coming to the beach since last year as she noticed whales appearing there quite frequently, and she told NBC: "I do this all the time, but this one came just a little closer."

A friend of hers captured the moment it jumped out the water, and Guzman said: "It just really caught me by surprise."
