Nurse uses ‘I quit’ cake to officially resign from hospital job

We’ve all thought of resigning in a blaze of glory, but this nurse picked a frosty way to do it.

Nurse uses ‘I quit’ cake to officially resign from hospital job

Nurse Sara Childers decided on a rather unusual way of quitting her job at the Western State Hospital in the US state of Washington.

Childers had held her job in the forensics ward for just seven months and normal practice would be to hand in a resignation letter for one’s notice, however Sara went for a much ‘sweeter’ solution.

Sara handed her bosses a resignation cake and even had the cheek to sign it in frosting. She also had “I QUIT!!!” boldly written right across the cake.

She did leave a nice note on top of it though, telling her former colleagues in the ward that she loved them.

Sara told KOMONews she left her position over the “bureaucracy” in the upper levels of the institution.

“It's such a large institution. It could do so much so good, but it's just one of the worst places right now,” said Sara.

“How do we control the population with such little staff and so many patients? And you can't have individualised treatment that way.

“I'm not the kind of person who is going to shut up and I'm not the kind of person who's going to not do anything. I kind of just wanted to laugh with everybody again when I left.”

Good luck getting a reference after that!
