The Newry PSNI gave those young'uns some straight talk on their Facebook page when they responded to complaints that they were "ruining everyones summer as always" by warning local young people not to go to a rave by a quarry.
The original post warned that the PSNI were aware of the 'social gathering' being organised and measures had been taken to shut it down. When some people complained, instead of just giving a potted, "official" statement, whoever is in charge of their Facebook page broke it down for those annoyed in this brilliantly direct and slightly sarcastic comment.
The comment has received over 670 'likes' and praise for its direct and realistic approach.
"Congratulations on a thoughtful response, absent of the typical recriminations and "do nots," said one commenter.
"If only more police forces actually made the effort of connecting so directly with people and exposing their view, maybe people would have a better understanding that their actions echo on other people too. Way to go."
Can't argue with that.
