An American mother has complained to police about finding cannabis in her daughter's chips.
Dezeray Risner says that when her four-year-old daughter started to eat the french fries in their car about 10 to 15 minutes after buying them she said they "tasted funny".
Risner reached her arm back to her daughter and got her to spit them out into her hand to see them and take a photo.
She said: "When I looked at it, you could see it. It was chewed up with the french fries. There was the weed in there, the wrap that it goes in or whatever. I freaked out."
According to a police report, Risner called the manager at the Wendy’s fast-food chain, but he said nobody at the restaurant had marijuana.
So she filed a complaint with the Huber Heights Police Department where officers opened the bag and smelled a "strong odor of marijuana" and saw a "green leafy vegetation" on the fries.
After speaking with staff and the shift manager at the Wendy’s, two of the workers admitted to police that they smoke cannabis, but officers didn't find any after consented searches at the restaurant.
The police also found that there are no cameras overlooking the food prep area of the store.
Risner told WDTN.com: "I shouldn’t have to check my child’s food for drugs. “That wasn’t professional at all.
"My biggest issue right now is to acknowledge it. Apologize. And if it has to go farther, then it will go farther, but that’s not my concern right now."
Wendy’s responsed to the report, saying: "In response to Ms. Thompson’s Facebook Post, please know all of our customers as well as the quality and integrity of our food are a top priority at Wendy’s and we are taking this very seriously.
"We are currently conducting a thorough internal investigation and the Human Resource and Legal departments are both fully cooperating with police in their investigation. We will get to the bottom of this issue as soon as possible. It is as important to us as it is to the community."
Police are still investigating.
