Seriously impressive.

Man sets new record after planking for over four hours

Most of us could probably hold a plank for one to two minutes - and not without complaining.

But this Danish man just broke the world record for holding a plank pose for four hours and 28 minutes.

Fitness instructor Tom Hoel took on the challenge over the weekend winning back the record from Chinese man Mao Weidong who, last October, held the pose for four hours and 26 minutes.

Planking is an exercise pose in which you hold your weight on your forearms and your toes - not to be confused with the social media craze a few years back of lying in odd places. It can be gruelling and Hoel says it was both a physical and a mental challenge.

"I have never pushed myself that far. I had a serious crisis for almost two hours. After mentally arguing with myself, I finally asked for the time at three hours and 41 minutes," he told local newspaper The Local.

"I thought that I was still under three hours and was ready to quit but when I realised I that had beat my former record and the goal was within sight, I mobilised every resource in my mind and body."

Suddenly, a one minute plank doesn't seem like anything to be proud of anymore.
