A video has surfaced of an elderly couple being swept away by the waves caused by a storm in France on Monday.
Thankfully, the couple were saved from the terrifying incident near Breton in the north-west of France, but it shows the perils of being on a beach during a storm.
The clip starts with a man in a green coat doing some beachcombing, when he turns around and walks towards the camera just as a big wave comes in.
The thing is, the retired couple appear and walk past him towards the wave, so what comes next is truly frightening.
As her 75-year-old husband is being washed away, the woman, aged 76, can be heard screaming while she struggles to keep up with him. The man in the green coat, who is in his 50s, also follows but there is not much either of them can do as the torrent of water throws them around at will.
If you are wondering why the person filming the incident didn't help, it is because they are disabled.
After a second wave threatens to sweep the couple away, the man in the green coat manages to grab the both of them before they are all felled by the incoming surge of water and carried out of view on the other side of the rocks.
Thankfully, all three are seen by a tourist called Eric Roudaut, who dives in and manages to rescue the stricken man with the help of the man in the green coat. However, the woman is still fighting for her life in the water.
Mr Roudaut told Ouest-france.fr: "She was swung around for ten minutes by the waves.
"I went back into the water. Three or four times I had her in my hands but she slipped out of them. The waves were too strong. I finally managed to grab her and a very big wave brought us back onto the dunes."
Three or four more people came and helped Eric hoist her out of the water.
Afterwards he went home to take a hot shower and the last he heard they were recovering in hospital.
