Sometimes it feels like the news is all just gloom and doom, doesn’t it. Believe us, we know.
So we wanted to do something to cheer us all up as we come into the autumn.
We asked our readers on Facebook and Twitter to send in their good news stories to us as part of our new #bngoodnews competition.
And here are some of our favourites.
Suzanne Delap is proud of herself:
"Today had my 1 week old baby Jamie, fed, changed & back to sleep within 50 mins & was also dressed myself, great achievement, pat on the back!!"
And Karen Songhurst is proud of her one-year-old niece who “learned to brush her teeth by herself this morning”.
Margaret Dolan had her day brightened up by her little grandson:
“I looked after my 6 month old grandson last night it was great to see his wee smile this morn xxx.”
And Marguerite O Donoghue Mcgrenaghan is smiling because her twins are smiling:
“My premature twins nearly two months early turn eight weeks today and are nine Pounds after a Rocky pregnancy due fibromyalgia and they having to be delivered early my twins are reaching all milestones and smiling more and more every day x”
Marie O'Shea writes:
“Today I had a camera down my throat testing nodules on my vocal chords, and it turns out they're benign! Phew... Happy days!”
Sandra Redmond is thankful she’s home recovering after 8 days in hospital after surgery.
“I’m sore but the joy of seeing my little boy and my wonderful family makes it so much easier to bare. Missed them so much xxx”
And Sharon Verdon has epilepsy but is happy to report that she’s “3 years seizure free today”.
And Teresa Walsh is so happy she could shout from the rooftops:
“I am off the cigarettes a year today and so so happy I could SCREAM but I won’t.”
Lesley O Fiach has an interview for a job on Wednesday while Amanda O’Brien’s husband got word on Thursday that he got a job and she’s “so proud of him”.
Amanda writes that he’s “4 years out of work retrained from Building industry to Healthcare never did school exams.
And not only did Katie Nugent get a new job, she’s going away on a girlie weekend tomorrow.
Michelle Gavigan is 11 years married on Saturday and it’s also her husband’s birthday next week which falls on his trip home being away working for two months! she says it’s “gonna be an epic week”.
Barry Clarke has just finalised his wedding plans - he’s getting married in January.”
And Joann Kelly is delighted that her “beautiful little sister is getting married tomorrow to a wonderful man”. She says she can’t wait “ to ruin my make up with tears of happiness”.
Linda Bourne-Hull writes:
“It's raining in West Cork and it means I can now water my neighbour's 30-40 potted plants now that the rainbutts have filled up. Not very exciting I know, but we've had none since 29 August - I never thought I wanted rain so bad!”
