Irish wrestler makes this little man's day
Young Dáire Gorman had the best day ever yesterday as he got to meet his hero, Irish wrestling superstar Sheamus from the WWE.
Brave little Dáire has Crommelin Syndrome an extremely rare condition that affects only four people in the entire world.
The condition means that Dáire, who is two and a half, was born with no upper limbs and without a femur in both legs. Crommelin Syndrome is so unusual that little is known about it and the family have received very little medical support.
Dáire adores wrestling, in particular the world’s biggest wrestling company World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), and they happened to be in Dublin’s O2 Arena on the Irish date of their European tour.
The little man loves to watch his favourite stars like John Cena, Roman Reigns and Ireland’s own Sheamus smash it up in the ring with his Dad Kenny and his cousin Jamie.
Hearing about Dáire's amazing story last year, RTÉ’s Ryan Tubridy organised tickets for him to see his WWE heroes last night, it was then that mum Shelly turned detective!
Super-sleuth Shelly managed to figure out that the wrestlers would be staying in Dublin’s Spencer Hotel and contacted Meeting and Events manager Emma Horan in the hope of making Dáire’s dream of meeting his heroes come through.
Emma kicked into gear and used her contacts to get the WWE to organise a get-together between current United States champion Sheamus and Dáire during the intermission of last night’s show through the Irish arm of the Make-A-Wish foundation.

Stephen Farrelly, who plays Sheamus, hails from Dublin and is a former three-time WWE and World Heavyweight champion, the highest position a wrestler can achieve within the WWE.
Shelly told breakingnews.ie that Sheamus was just brilliant with Dáire: “He was fantastic! He was so sweet to Dáire, asking how he was and posing for pictures.
“He even signed the armbands he wears fighting for Dáire and gave them to him along with a programme signed by all the wrestlers.”
Dan Kenny added: “He even let Dáire do the ‘Brogue Kick’ (Sheamus’ finishing move) to him, he was great!”
Kenny and Shelly, from Dunraymond in Monaghan, have been together for 12 years with Dáire being their only child and they even admit to thoroughly enjoying themselves at last night's wrestling.
The Gormans were quick to thank everyone who made the meeting possible and hope through private funding to be able to provide their little champ with a power wheelchair soon.
WWE has an amazing relationship with the Make-A-Wish foundation with John Cena holding the record for most wishes to kids granted – standing at over 400.
Dáire wasn’t the only one to have a wish granted last night as eight-year-old Jessica Broady from Laois got to meet Sheamus as well.
Ailbhe Goff from Make-A-Wish told us that she was even more delighted when John Cena, who she loves, came over to meet her after the show.
