Irish women are being warned to avoid a con-artist that is using the alias Wesley O'Brien.
Lauren Caffrey-Byrne shared her friend's ordeal with the man on Facebook to prevent more women falling victim to his scam.
Byrne's friend met O'Brien on Plenty of Fish.
"He used the alias Wesley O'Brien, claiming to be the nephew of Irish billionaire Denis O'Brien and after some chatting, they eventually agreed to meet up for a date where he wooed my friend and subsequently asked her to be his girlfriend."
However, during this initial period, O'Brien fed Byrne's friend "various tall stories". Including that he was best friends with Conor McGregor and he even sent her screenshots of fake conversations between him and McGregor.
He sent her copious amounts of Snapchats of flashy houses, offices and even spoke with her parents comfortably.
"She had absolutely no reason to doubt who Wesley was purporting to be, the plans that were being made or the stories that he told her as he had done his background research and could answer any question she ever had flawlessly."
Things took a turn for the worse when O'Brien pretended to book a holiday for himself and his new girlfriend. He even video recorded himself in a travel agency booking flights to New York for an upcoming MMA match where they would have ringside seats to see Conor McGregor fight.
Wesley then led his new girlfriend to believe that he had spare ringside tickets.
"My friend's mate told her that he would buy them off Wesley and jumped at the opportunity to get five ringside seats for €1500."
After the money was handed over, Wesley promised to return within a few hours with the tickets. However, he instead asked his new girlfriend to take a quick detour so he could get some work done along the way and when she dropped him off he never returned.
"Well- Wesley never did come back! Wesley gone, money gone, social network accounts deleted and mobile numbers for him, "his sister" and "his mum" all disconnected!"
The guy is certainly becoming as notorious as his "best friend". Watch out ladies.
