Twitter user Tweecher who overheard the conversation wanted to find him to commend him for being so polite and well-mannered.
Well, Irish Rail have found him!
The young man's name is Thomas Conway, he's from Ballina in Tipperary and it sounds like he's as nice as we'd imagined he would be.
After seeing the story circulated online, the nineteen-year-old recognised himself and got in touch with Irish Rail who posted his lovely message on Twitter this afternoon.
We found the wonderful young man @_Tweecher_ spoke so highly of on her recent trip, read what he had to say! pic.twitter.com/jNM2L2OGv7

In the message, Thomas says that it was no hardship chatting to 'the genuinely lovely' couple sitting near, saying they were fellow GAA fans.
@_Tweecher_ This is down to you for your lovely positive message, it's great to have so many wonderful people travelling with us ;-)

Thomas believes he shouldn't be singled out for praise as he believes "respect for our elders, and indeed everyone around us, has always been a fundamental value of humans and I believe it's growing amongst young people".
Thomas' message in full:
While he could be accused of being overly optimistic, if there are more young people out there like young Thomas then there's hope for us yet.
He even complimented Irish Rail on their service.
What a charmer.
