In the run up to his wedding groom-to-be Carlus McWilliams had an epic idea that would stun guests on his wedding day.
Carlus shared his plot with his then bride-to-be Maria and was given the go ahead to start planning a reunion of old friends, who all possess a special talent.
It turns out the Derry man is quite the Irish dancer and six weeks out from the wedding he contacted seven of his dancing friends in order to choreograph a special number for the big day.
The guys had not performed together in years since they attended the Allen School of Irish Dancing together, but after six weeks of secret practices you’d have never been able to tell.
After the couple tied the knot, only Carlus, Maria and the dancers knew what was coming when the guys took to the floor at the couple’s wedding reception at the Slieve Russell Hotel in Co Cavan - and it’s fair to say, judging by the reaction of the guests, their hard work paid off.
Wedding guest Rebecca Lagan, whose boyfriend danced in the video, told the Irish Mirror that even bride Maria hadn’t seen the surprise routine beforehand.
“The groom wanted to surprise the crowd and get the boys back together,” said Rebecca.
“The bride was the only person who knew, but she had never seen the routine. These eight used to dance with each other, but haven't danced together in years.
“They created the routine and music themselves. My boyfriend is one of the dancers and helped put it together and I know the boys would love more people to see it.”
We think it’s fair to say that Carlus has now raised the bar for grooms everywhere after that.
