Locals in the Russian Urals were stunned by a massive light in the night sky last week, and there's been no explanation for it.
Russia’s Sverdlovsk region saw the large orange burst of light on Friday, November 14, and the footage was caught on those ubiquitous Russian dashcams.
It was initally presumed to be military, but there are no bases nearby and a military representative has denied that they were involved.
Next, it was thought that the Leonids meteor shower may have been responsible for it, but the fact it has a yellow-red hue doesn't fit in with the usual blue, white or green colour of a bolide, plus it doesn't seem to be moving.
Another clip has emerged from a new vantage point which, as well as the bright light in the sky, shows a bright light on the ground. It’s visible on the horizon toward the left, and can be seen around the 20-second mark.
This points to the light originating from the ground and being reflected off the clouds.
Some think it looks like a rocket launch, but the nearby Plesetsk cosmodrome didn't have any launches scheduled at the time, so the mystery continues.
