Garth Brooks announces Croke Park comeback

It's official folks: Garth Brooks will play Croke Park on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th July.

The 'Friends in Low Places' singer - who announced his retirement in 2001 made the announcement at a special event in Croker this morning, the scene of his legendary 2007 gigs.

"Before we go back on tour in the Fall of 2014, I want to challenge myself, the band, and crew," Brooks said.

"In '97, we were lucky enough to play Croke Park, the stadium was under construction. 130,000+ of some of the greatest fans in the world.

"I was quoted then as saying 'When this stadium is finished, I would love to come back and try to fill it again...this time to the brink.'...and we're back to do just that."

Predictably, Twitter went a bit mad once the news was announced.

There was a run on hotel rooms and stetsons.

Tickets for The Garth Brooks Comeback Special Event go on sale on Thursday January 30 at 9am from Ticketmaster and all usual ticket outlets nationwide.

In 2012 Brooks was named the best selling artist of the last two decades by Billboard, Nielson and Soundscan, with a whopping 68.5 million sales.

All together now…
