Garda Traffic tweet driver's novel (and unsuccessful) excuse for running a red light

A driver pulled over by Garda Traffic last night tried to justify breaking a red light because his wife was expecting him home in five minutes.

Shockingly, his excuse didn't work and he was issued with a fixed charge penalty notice (FCPN). And, of course, the always on-the-ball Garda Traffic Twitter account shared it for our amusement.

Worth a try but the Gardaí were having none of it. However, others felt his pain.

Garda Traffic then pointed out that his wife would prefer to get him - and others on the road - home safely .
