If you were watching the Nine O'clock News last night, you might have noticed that they were suffering from what RTE generously called technical difficulties.
Apologies again for the delay in bringing you tonight's @rtenews, we are now back up and running with Eileen Dunne in the newsroom
— RTÉ One (@RTEOne) October 5, 2015
The news didn’t start for a whole 11 minutes, throwing the country’s bedtime routine completely off.
@rtenews nine o'clock news fail 😒 ten past and I'm still waiting

Eileen just welcomed us to 'the news' omitting any time reference. Is it time for bed now?

Ads were shown to placate us until finally Eileen Dunne showed up, in a different studio and reading the news old-school - from pieces of paper - as the teleprompter was kaput.
But she, of course, powered through like the professional she is and Twitter had nothing but praise for how she handled herself.
Rte news is back. No teleprompter though, Eileen struggling to see the page, someone pass her some specs!! #rtenews @rtenews
