A dog's been asked to report for jury duty.
Barrett Griner of New Jersey got a letter addressed to his five-year-old German Shepherd IV Griner and found a summons inside requesting the pet report for jury service at Cumberland County Court.
He told Reuters: "It was just funny. I got mail for my dog. I hope that the judge finds that kind of humorous.
"That's all I need is to have the local county and judge think I'm making a mockery of his courtroom."
Court officials have confessed that a computer glitch caused the mistake and claimed they do not expect the animal to attend court.
The local trial court administrator Mark Sprock said: "It probably picked up that IV, which is usually after his name, from one of the databases and put it into his first name slot in the jury system."
