A cat has been pulled from the rubble of an Italian town six days after an earthquake devastated the region.
More than 290 people died in after the 6.2 quake and those that survived have been faced with unimaginable loss of homes and possessions.
In one of the worst hit towns, Amatrice, one woman Daniela Tursini, had begged fire crews to find her cat, named Gioia, or Joy:
“I beg you, find my cat, she’s all I have left."
And, incredibly, on Monday, rescue crews clearing rubble came upon the animal in the ruins of a house.
In video footage released online, the grey and white cat can be seen being given water by the rescue crew.
Italy’s animal protection agency, ENPA, said Joy is dehydrated but “she will survive” and has been examined by vets.
