Brazilian TV's 'Zombies on the Metro' is an incredibly elaborate and cruel YouTube prank

The main prank begins at 0:55, with a twist if you watch until 3:30.

YouTube pranks are ten-a-penny, but this one is something special both in how elaborate and how cruel it is.

Brazilian TV network SBT took its hidden camera show to the metro in an elaborate prank involving professional makeup and host of extras – far more than an ordinary YouTube production could manage.

The result was clearly inspired by popular TV show The Walking Dead (even down to the title music being "borrowed").

The prank comes from the Silvio Santos show, one of Brazil's best-known TV personalities, and the extensive resources at the show's command make for an impressive setup.

The result is a pretty phenomenal, as the lighting, theatrics, and timing all contribute to the pinnacle of this type of terror-inducing prank. Portuguese is not required, as screams of terror are a universal language - and wait for the 3:30 mark, when an extra twist is added.

The setup is so well-produced that it's remarkable none of the victims suffered a heart attack. Some YouTube commenters also highlighted that all the victims of this prank were women, travelling alone or in small groups at night.

But the real question is how the TV show managed to get the local transport authority on board with terrorising their customers.
