Workers Party: Hollande election means treaty will be changed

The Workers Party has called on the Government to abandon the EU Fiscal Treaty referendum on May 31 at its campaign launch calling for the treaty to be rejected.
It said the election results in France and Greece show there is a "resounding rejection of austerity" in Europe.
Padraig Mannion of the Workers Party said it does not make sense for Ireland to vote for a treaty that he says will be changed by the new French President Francois Hollande.
"The treaty will be altered in some way - maybe in a minor way, maybe in a major way, we don't know.
"I think we can be certain that the influence that France has and which Francois Hollande will have on whether the treaty goes ahead is much greater than in Ireland."
