Taoiseach accuses former Aer Lingus directors

The Taoiseach has accused three former directors of Aer Lingus of wanting to steal the assets of the company.

Two years ago the three directors had tried to put together a management buy-out of Aer Lingus.

Bertie Ahern made his claim when replying to a Dáil question from Labour leader Pat Rabbitte on the forthcoming privatisation of the company.

“I'm surprised that Deputy Rabbitte is taking up a view that was opposed by every trade unionist,” the Taoiseach said.

He stated Deputy Rabbitte was defending those individuals who wanted to stage the buy-out.
