Survey reveals 27% plan to take on staff in 2014
A new survey shows that 27% of Irish companies plan to take on new staff next year.
The HR survey by IBEC, reveals that half of the organisations surveyed expect to recruit permanent or temporary staff in the next six months.
But, the majority of organisations -59%- believe employee numbers are expected to remain the same over the next 12 months.
Fergal O'Brien is the head of policy with IBEC. He says despite the employment findings- around 60 per-cent of employers are concerned over rising pay costs.
"A lot of companies are still very concerned about the cost of doing business in Ireland," he said.
"Companies are looking in particular at issues that may be driving up labour costs around the risk of a statutory sick pay proposals
"Health insurance costs are a particular issues for companies, about one fifth of organisations with medical insurance benefits are looking at reviewing their schemes to see how savings benefits can be made."
