Stock markets expected to tumble again today

The world’s stock markets are expected to take a battering again today as confidence remains low because of the global economic slowdown.

Yesterday, the British FTSE index fell to its lowest level in three years, while Japanese shares dipped to their lowest value in 17 years.

Yesterday’s slump was fuelled by the rise in the US unemployment rate and confidence is expected to be hit again when US consumer spending figures are released later this week
