Spar wins global award
Spar Ireland won the Global Award for Convenience Retailing at the Retail Industry Awards held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London last night.
The award, which was presented to the company’s flagship Eurospar supermarket on Barrow Street in Dublin, recognises innovation in the convenience retailing sector worldwide.
Leo Crawford, Chairman of Spar Ireland said: “This award is a tremendous vote of confidence, not only for the Eurospar brand and Spar Ireland, but also for the Irish convenience retailing sector as a whole. For many years convenience retailing in Ireland has led the way in terms of innovation, store design and product offering - to have this recognised by our international peers is testament to the strides we have made.”
The Retail Industry Awards celebrate high achievement in the grocery sector and have become established as the 'Oscars' of the retail industry.
The Eurospar format, was recognised for the advances the brand has taken to change the face of convenience within a highly competitive and ever-changing market.
The organisers of the event said: “The standard of entries was very high this year and it made the job of the judges a lot harder in selecting the winners, which is a testimony to the talent and dynamism of the grocery retail sector as a whole.”
