Spanish Economy Minister not aware of any plans for Eurogroup talks
08/06/2012 - 11:36:12The Spanish Economy Minister has said his Government is not aware of weekend Eurogroup talks.
Reuters has reported that Spain will request European aid for its ailing banks at the weekend.
The News agency, quoting EU and German sources, said that Finance Ministers of the 17-nation Eurozone will hold a conference call on Saturday to discuss a Spanish request for an aid package.
The EU Commission says its has no news of a request from Madrid of a bailout for Spanish banks.
A spokesman for the German Chancellor Angela Merkel refused to make any comment on the continuing speculation saying the decision is up to the Spanish government.
