Sinn Féin is to call a vote next week on a bill to phase out so-called "if-and-when" contracts.
The bill would give workers an automatic right to a apply for a contract that reflects the practice of their working week after six months in a job.
TDs will debate the bill on Tuesday with a vote on Thursday.
Sinn Féin's David Cullinane, said it would give greater stability for workers.
He said: "It allows workers to apply for a contract that is reflective of their actual working week. We have far too many instances of workers who are on 15-hour contracts for (as long as) 10 years and yet, week in, week out they are doing 40 hours.
"It is a way of companies exploiting their workers."
