Samsung to issue battery update to users affected by Note 7 issue

Samsung is to issue a new battery software update to all Galaxy Note 7s which will limit the maximum battery charge to 60%.

It is the latest measure by the company to reduce the risk to customers after some phones caught fire.

The new update is to be rolled out across Europe from this Monday, October 31.

All customers with a Galaxy Note 7 have been advised to replace their device.

Editor of Silicon Republic John Kennedy said: "People I know who have used it rave about it. They love the phone and are quite attached to them."

He said Samsung had offered them to be put first in line for the next version of the device..
