Ryanair has announced the opening of a new base in Manchester saying it will create 2,000 jobs.
The base, the airline's 45th, is set to open in October although passengers can book flights from tomorrow.
Ryanair will initially operate two aircraft on 17 routes to and from the airport, but that will grow to four aircraft on 26 routes by summer 2012, the airline said.
Ryanair said it will invest over €200m in the project, which the company expects will deliver up to 2 million passengers per year, on up to 260 weekly flights.
"Ryanair is delighted to unveil Manchester as our 45th base," Chief Executive Michael O'Leary said.
