Research shows recession delayed some building projects by four years
New research shows that construction investment was ravaged by the recession.
The study carried out by Construction Information Services, shows some projects were delayed for nearly four years.
The industry is calling for more investment to fast-track roads, flood defences and special water treatment developments.
Construction Industry Federation Director General, Tom Parlon, says the industry was neglected during the downturn.
Mr Parlon said: "This is really, really worrying and we know that this government have inherited a difficult and below-funded infrastructure plan from before.
"It's essential now - in terms of trying to deliver the houses that we need, trying to attract the inward investment that we need or in terms of quality of life - that substantial projects like airports, connecting the airports to the city, flood relief basic water sources and so on are delivered.
"All of those are being extremely neglected and we want, through CIF, to work with the government."
