Research reveals rising hope in Ireland's hotel sector

Three out of four hotels in Ireland say they expect business to pick up in the next three years, according to new research carried out by the group Amarach on behalf of AIB.

The research also found that more than half of hotels saw their turnover increase last year.

The survey also found that online bookings now account for 56% of all bookings with just 31% of bookings made over the phone.

Guest profiles are also changing, with hoteliers reporting an increase in the number of couples, over 55s, domestic tourists and wedding-related business.
