Research finds low level of charitable donations by Irish firms
21/01/2013 - 07:32:16Irish companies contribute 12 times less to charities and non-profit groups than their counterparts in the UK, according to new research.
The figures are being highlighted by the Forum on Philanthropy and Fundraising which is starting a campaign to boost donations by Irish companies and individuals.
The forum said better tax breaks for philanthropic donations and the creation of more charitable foundations could help boost donations.
Frank Flannery, Chair of the Forum on Philanthropy & Fundraising, said "Corporate Ireland" does not have a good record when it comes to giving something back to the community.
