Report shows widespread job losses for architects

Three out of every five architecture jobs here have been lost since 2007.

The combined affect of the recession and the collapse of the construction industry has put 60% of employees in the sector out of work.

A new survey by Hayes Recruitment also shows that the number of students applying to study level 8 architecture is down 27%.

However, some firms say they expect to be hiring again by the summer of 2011.
