Regulator targets sub-prime lenders to sign up to new code

The Taoiseach says the code of conduct for financial institutions on repossessions should be extended to the so-called "sub-prime" lenders here.
At the moment the code only operates in the main banks and building societies.
Yesterday, 10 of those agreed to extend the freeze on repossessions by a further six months to one year.
Brian Cowen told the Dáil today that the financial regulator is trying to get other lenders to sign up too.
