The Press Council of Ireland has said that one in eight complaints it received last year related to children.
The body, which deals with complaints about newspapers and magazines, also reported that one in 10 complaints related to privacy issues.
The council's Annual Report for 2014 will be launched by the Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald this morning.
The advisory body will also introduce new guidelines for the reporting of suicides.
The council said excessive detail relating to the means of suicide should not be reported.
