The Oireachtas committee on jobs will today meet the chairperson-designate of the Low Pay Commission.
Dr Donal de Buitléir will brief deputies on his vision for the commission if his appointment is approved.
The Low Pay Commission has been established by the Government to assess the minimum wage and to establish whether Ireland should have a living wage set down in legislation.
Chairperson of the committee Fine Gael Deputy Marcella Corcoran Kennedy said initiatives such as today's hearing - which she described as "inviting people in to be scrutiniseed by the relevant Oireachtas committee" - were among the reforms of the Oireachtas.
