The total number of trips to Ireland increased by 12.3% to 2,126,600 in the period of April-June of this year - an overall increase of 233,600 compared to the same period in 2013.

The total number of trips to Ireland increased by 12.3% to 2,126,600 in the period of April-June of this year - an overall increase of 233,600 compared to the same period in 2013.

According to official figures from the Central Statistics Office, the number of trips by residents of Great Britain increased by 15.2% to 837,700 while trips by residents of North America to Ireland increased by 12.8% to 395,600.

Trips by residents of European Countries other than Great Britain (Other Europe) increased by 9.3% to 770,600 while trips to Ireland from Other Areas increased by 11.4% to 122,600.

The total number of overseas trips made by Irish residents during the period April - June 2014 increased by 2.2% to 1,790,800.

The total number of trips to Ireland increased by 10.3% for the period January – June 2014 when compared with the same period in 2013.

The total number of trips (Irish residents’ trips overseas plus trips to Ireland) in the period April - June 2014 increased by 7.5% to 3,917,400 when compared with the same period 12 months earlier.

For the period April - June 2013, there was an annual increase of 2.8% in the total number of trips taken when compared to the previous corresponding period.
