Motorists advised of flooding risk

Motorists are being advised to drive with care this afternoon following heavy rain in many areas.

Met Éireann said more than 3cm of rain fell in some parts of the south and southeast last night.

Wicklow, Wexford, Kilkenny, Carlow and Tipperary have been badly afected.

Gardaí are advising people to avoid Arklow town until further notice as many routes are said to be impassable.

Bus transfers are operating between Wicklow and Arklow because of flooding on the rail line while Rathdrum is not being served by bus or rail due to flooding.
