Average house price down 3.6% since start of year

Average house prices across the country have fallen by 3.6% since the start of this year, according to the latest figures from the ESRI and Permanent TSB.

The two organisations say prices continued their steady decline in September, falling by another 0.3% during the month.

Since the start of this year, house prices in Dublin are down by 5.1%, while prices outside the capital are down 3.4%.

The average price of a house in Dublin is now just over €405,000, compared to €257,000 elsewhere in the country.
