Luas strike 'costing Dublin businesses €1m a day'

Business leaders in Dublin have said that they are losing more than €1m for every day Luas workers strike.

Richard Guiney, the CEO of Dublin Town, which represents traders in the city centre said that people should be able to depend on the service.

"We in the city are quite dependent on public transport, so 80% of people who shop in Dublin city would come in by a form of transport other than their car and I suppose that's part of what we're thinking as well that for the public transport system to work, it needs to be reliable and it needs to be there when people want it."
